Am posting this as a pledge or i may chicken out! going to do my 1st IOW event tomorrow , Brading 10k:
"The course is an undulating single lap taking in Ashey Road, Green Lane and on to Brading then back to Ryde via Whitefield Woods and Beaper Shute."
Its on roads still open to cars, mostly countryside ish small roads but Beaper Shute is a long fast road, renowned over here for people going TOO fast and various crashes over the years! that might be a bit hairy! I always intended to do it and swapped a day at work, but have nearly chickened out as Boz was going to go to it too(though much faster!) but hes working near Malaysia for a while! but have been assured a few of running club will be there and its my 1st 10k on the IOW so what the hell, i will give it a shot (bit hillier than previous ones! !)
Also ordered new shoes like these: the only ones in stock were pink/white, so these have been ordered and will arrived around Weds next week!Turquoise is my favourite and the have a little shiny silver iridescent bit on the side! PRETTYY! my others are starting to look and feel a bit knackered(around 400 miles so far) wearing thin-ish in a couple of places.....
** wish me luck and hope i will return with bling and report tomorrow !!!!!!!!!!!!
oops just remembered a did an IOW race in May, but not a 10k, so technically this is my 1st 10k here(4th in total!) think this one will be the most challenging though!

Ooo do like the look of the new shoes- very very nice indeed.
Good luck with the 10k tomorrow. Wear something garish and neon so you stand out from the vegetation at the side of the road and are completely obvious to any speeding motorists. Have fun
