I chose not to dwell on the minutes of W1R2 and decided to concentrate on other things such as:
1.I need a better sports bra.
2.I wonder how smug I can be once I beat my kids in a race.
3.Is runners nipple a real thing? Should I buy talc? Do I have runners nipples? I should probably look up what it is before panic buying a leather vest and cornflour.
4. Do NOT collapse going past these proper runners. YAY! Oh, it's just a couple of people in leggings walking a dog.
5. Cost of sports bra is definitely justified if im going to smoke my 4 year old.
6. I am almost there now *massive grin*
7. Must not turn into that delirious woman with crazy hair people steer clear of on early mornings in the park.
8. That is what I am right now but I do not care. I'm even going to stretch when I get in!
So, I've done run 2 and anyone who's thinking they might not do it really don't worry because you will get through it.

Deffo do the sports bra. It's a must even if you're a bit limited in the chest dept (who me? ha ha) A good one for the more amply endowed is the Shock Absorber brand.
Get one of those babies and your worries are over
Crazy hair I fear is an inevitability unless you get a Buff. Google Buff and check out the video clip which shows a 1001 ways of how to wear one. I usually wear one as a head band to keep my hair out my eyes, support for my specs and to keep my ear buds in place. Plus it doubles as a hat if it rains, neckerchief should the sun suddenly beat down (think Foreign Legion), and you can tie up a ponytail with it. I dare say it would double up as a bandage or sling should you get a painful prang
Oh yeah, be sure to do your cool down walk every single time and do your stretches properly when you get home. Never stint. Keeping your calves right is a priority
Happy running. Keep going very steadily, carefully, slowly. Have fun
well done.. empathised with you.. oh err apart from the sports bra... and the runners nipple.. (although i guess that could apply to me as well- I'm told vaseline works wonders- havent got to the exalted heights of runners nipple yet!)
Amazing how much goes through your mind in such a short time.. mine usually is.
Is it over.. is it over, yet? . can i stop running now? when will it be over.. oh i cant breathe.. is that a pain i feel.. will i get a stitch? Is it over YET? oh thats just half way.. must be over soon...
Yes like Miss Wobble says, sports bra is the most important thing, equal to shoes! I swear by the Shock Absorber brand too - the best ones are the Run bra (racer back) and the Max Support (conventional fastening) - both available cheap on Wiggle.co.uk at the moment. I would try on first in department store though, the back sizes are quite small eg I usually take 32 but go up to 34 for these (but keep to the same cup size).
When it fits right, nothing will move. You will have no need for vaseline, talc, goosefat nor duct tape!
I'll second (or should that be third) the importance of a good sports bra. We all want to run but not at the price of our threppenny bits hanging round our knees. A good well fitting sports bra is a girl's best friend. Hummmmm is that a little too crude for this forum I wonder?
Thanks everyone! I'm currently Googling and measuring and praying to the Areola faced Gods that I and you never get the nipples of a runner, stitches or forget to stretch.
