Yesterday I completed my very first 5k run at the Race for Life event. So far I've only ever managed just over 4k, and relatively slowly. Yesterday I ran all the way and managed the whole lot in 32 Mins and 10 Secs.
Who'd have thought all those months ago that this old girl had that in her?
I couldn't have done any of that without the C25k programme and Laura or without the help of the people from this fantastic forum.
Many thanks to everyone who has encouraged me on my 'journey' to become a runner!

Wow very well done and excellent time be very very proud!! I too can only do 4K in 30 mins did get it up to 5K in 40 mins I am off for my first park run on Saurday and I'm hoping running with other people will naturally speed me up a little ! What are you planning next ?
I think the whole event spurred me on to be a little faster than usual. Apart from the Race for Life I have only run outside once and I found this so much easier than using the treadmill. I did not feel as hot and could adjust my speed much easier. That is certainly the way forward. So, my next plan is to participate in regular park runs I guess. I would certainly not want all this achievement go to waste.
What are your plans for maintenance and progression?
Glad to hear it went so well ! My plan at the moment is 2 5Ks a week one of those being a park run if at all possible and then a 30 min using the podcast running slightly faster (If I can) once a week!! I agree I do not want to let the hard work go to waste and I am certainly addicted now anyway ! Have you considered the stepping stones I have read about not sure what its all about though !
