What a feeling - five runs, seven PBs!

I can't believe the last week.

Monday - 10K PB 68:08 (two minutes faster than previous PB)

Wednesday - 5K PB 31:23 (37 seconds faster than previous PB)

Thursday - Interval run that included PB for 1K and 1 mile.

Saturday - Parkrun, new 5K PB 30:54

Today - 10K PB 64:43 and furthest run @13Km.

Talk about a purple patch! I was kind of hoping I might be able to do a 65min 10K by race time on 21st June. I'm grinning, even though I'm cold and soaked to the skin. I love to run!

Wooo hooooo and a yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeha for that lot! Well done Steve. It's happening for you. All the work and practice paid off. You must be immensely proud. It can happen like that, when you least expect it.

I got a PB for 5k on my race last weekend and only noticed it yesterday. Yay!

I'll go to Garmin and have a look

Meanwhile, Steve, take a rest. Put those feet up if possible and look after your legs and feet. They might need a bit of pampering.

Actually they don't feel too bad, Miss W! My shoes need drying out, though. Congrats on your PB too.

Nice one. By the way what are you eating for breakfast- I'll take a portion of the same if you don't mind!

I don't eat breakfast before a run :)

I never really felt worried about it, but I certainly feel a great deal more confident now. I'm wondering if I can break the 60 min mark for the 10k by then. However, that also means significantly breaking the 30 min 5K mark!

Congrats Steve. I've been a little absent lately but it's great to come back and see you're still running bonkers fast :) nothing changes really - except that you've got (even) faster!

Thanks, Ruth. How's your running going?

in reply to Steve_L

You're welcome! I'm running 3.5ks at the mo, still trying to regulate my pace. It's been a bit uphill post-bug, with my routine really taking a hit. Also, before my bug, I was finding 5k runs really difficult, losing pace and overtiring myself, so have gone back a couple of steps. I want to get back up to 5k in a way that's more comfortable, then start doing parkruns.

That's great, Steve. Ever onwards and upwards... You'll soon have the 5K sub 30 min cracked. You'll get to parkrun one of these Saturdays and just find yourself feeling good whilst amongst a group running at the right pace. Then it will all come together for you.

Just a thought, but have you thought about latching onto the heels of the 30 minute pace runner. Try to hang on to their pace. When you see the line 100 yards in front of you, just ake a break for the finish and go all out (just in case the pace runner is running a couple of seconds slow). I think you could probably make that 30 minutes now, but just need conditions to be right.

That sounds like a plan, Adam, thanks!

Brilliant! You must be doing something right Steve. And isn't it funny that the longer runs lead to faster times? I reckon you'll be posting on 22 June about a sub 10K!

Sub 60 minute 10K is what I meant to type!
