I ran in the Rutherford Appleton Running Event 10k this morning. It was a nice little event, incorporating a 5K (one lap) and 10K (two laps) run around the site of the Rutherford Appleton Laboratories and the Diamond light source synchrotron. Nice, (mostly) flat course, and I wanted to see if I could improve on my PB. The last two or three kilometers were VERY hard work, and I had to dig in deep to keep going, but as I neared the finishing area, I was being urged on by the marshals to push hard, and when I looked, it was because the clock was showing the time as in the 59th minute. I put on a spurt, and my chip time was 59:24, over three minutes faster than my previous best. The run included my fastest 1K, 1 mile, 2 miles and my second fastest 5K.
To say I'm pleased is an understatement!
