A difference a month makes!

In April i ran my first Brooks 10km in Vitacura, it was hot, hot, hot.

Found myself at the starting line again I was nervous as I have not been doing any running. What a difference a month makes, we were looking for the sun today as it rather cool this morning rather than avoiding and huddling under trees or anything that would give a bit of shade.

Learnt the lesson from the last race and didn't start so far at the back, which made it much easier as I wasn't blocked for the first 3km. Off we went however when I pressed run, garmin decided to install software so for the first 400m had no Garmin as tried to switch off and restart.

After a few weeks off, lots of travelling i wasn't sure how today was going to go..but settle in and ran well managed 3pb - 5km 27.38, 1mile 8.31 and 10km I crossed the line at 56.20.

So having a break from running and exercise doesn't do any harm, not being so far back is better as it means you have a clear run and above all cooler temperatures helps.

Happy running folks.

Blimey Vix, that's hella fast!! You're well inside a 30 minute 5k AND a 60minute 10k. You've got to be delighted with those stats. You're so right, sometimes a bit of a break is necessary to allow our bodies to consolidate all the running knowledge and muscle memory that they've acquired.

Many congratulations Sweetie, you're doing brilliantly :)

Thank you!! I am so pleased I just got my chip time and it was 55.49. I think all that warm weather training and going to gym had helped. If anyone wants to come to Chile for running training we have a spare bed!!! I am very happy today.

That's brilliant Vix, well done.

And welcome back to the UK :) I'm sure the cooler temperatures will make running seem like a doddle to you now.

Take it steady :) xx

I am back in Chile !! Went back to UK for 10days and now back in sunny, much cooler Santiago. Missed our gym while we were back in the UK but not long to go before boarding the plane one last time.

I will take it easy next week to recover

What fab times Vixchile! Absolutely brilliant. And I agree about the heat. It just makes me run very slowly.
