Week 1 complete.

Run 1 was hard and I couldn't believe I completed it, it left me feeling great about myself. It wasn't until the last running part that I realised I could play music through the app... so I thought okay surely that will make run 2 easier... I was very wrong. Run 2 was so much worse. I felt really terrible, I kept checking the timer and realising I still had ages to go. I read a couple of post on here after run 2 to try and motivate myself. I decided that I was probably pushing myself too hard and I needed to slow down a bit.

Run 3 was AMAZING!! I slowed myself down and was surprised when I realised that my running time was up. When it came to the last segment of running I decided I was going to give it my all and run as fast as I could. It was brilliant and I felt fantastic.

I'm nervous about starting Week 2 but I'm looking forward to it.

Well done! I found the very first run tough when I first did C25K.

Like you - I found slowing the pace down helped make it more manageable.

You'll be amazing in week 2 as well. Just remember to start slow. If you find you are coping as well as you did before, you can always speed the last run up a tad.

Keep up the good work! :)

Yep, slow is the new fast! Keep going slowly and you'll nail those sessions every time

Plus you don't get all exhausted and out of puff and you might even have enough puff to put a spurt on if Laura tells you to

You won't get injured either if you stay slow and steady. The injury couch is full of heroes. Ouch !

Yes definitely good advice to keep it slow. Have you found the podcasts yet? I started with the app too, which is quite basic. The podcasts have music and more chatty encouragement to kep you going. I only found out about it through reading posts on here, and was really glad I did! nhs.uk/livewell/c25k/pages/...

I remember week 1 well. I hav never been as sweaty in my life. That was seriously a beating. I know people say it gets easier and you know what? IT DOES! I hated the first 3 weeks, but was determined to do something about my condition. Now, a day before W6R3 I can tell you, I will probably run for the rest of my life. Never thought it could get so addictive. And its not all about the running on its own, but the feeling of accomplishment after weighs just as heavy! Keep it going :)
