Week 1 complete

That was tough but I’m proud of myself for getting started on my running journey and completing week 1. The run I’ve just done was especially hard as I haven’t slept well all week (kids eh) and I had a few drinks last night!

Hello! Well done on getting started! I too did a few of my earlier runs after having a few drinks the night before! haha! I found that making myself do the runs despite the potential excuses (drinks the night before, not sleeping well, aches and pains, too hot) has actually helped my determination to stick with the plan no matter what. I've always felt better for it! Happy running! :-)

Yes there’s always a hundred reasons not to go isn’t there especially with a busy job and hectic life but it’s worth it especially 30 mins at a time. Thank you

Well done for getting off the couch! I found week 1 was the hardest of the lot - my body didn’t know what the hell was going on. It gets easier as you build strength and you’ll be surprised how quickly this happens.

Well done on complete week 1, especially with not a lot of sleep 😊

Thank you I’m trying not to use sleep deprivation as an excuse not to exercise but sometimes I really have zero energy!

I know that feeling, it’s not always an excuse, sometimes it’s just really hard when you are exhausted and it takes every bit of energy mentally and physically to go for your run, but you did it which is amazing, you should be so proud of yourself, just take it one run at a time and before you know it you would have done a few weeks, you have done the hardest part by starting- you can do it 😊

That’s such a lovely message thank you!! Well I’ve just competed run 1 of week 2 and I never thought I’d be able to run haha so I do feel proud of myself. Do you have children too? I’m lucky that I can work from home so I tend to do that 2 days a week and run before work otherwise I don’t know how I’d fit it in!( then I do one on a weekend day whenever I can)

Well done on completing run 1 of week 2 it’s such a great feeling when you complete a run, you should be so proud of yourself, I have two boys who compete for an athletic club so I spend most of my time either at work or running them around, I tend to try and get my runs in before their training sessions, which has been hard as it’s so hot and being exhausted from work, I prefer early mornings when is cooler but struggle to fit them in, you are doing great being a working mum and doing this, your children must be really proud of you, keep going you are doing brill 😊

Yeah the heat does make it tough I’m expecting to be an amazing runner in cooler weather haha. Thank you that’s so lovely they’re too little to understand (4&1). I definitely struggle more to have the energy on an evening. Could you do your run whilst they are doing their athletics?

Aaarh bless you, know wonder you get exhausted, that age they do take up a lot of engery, but it’s amazing that you are finding a bit of energy to go running. Problem is I have to do some work when they are training as I am a team manager for the under 17men, sometimes wonder why I agree to help out lol, I hoping it will be easier with cooler weather not that I’m complaining about the sunshine ☀️

I think I’ve over done it now because I’ve ended up poorly! It’s so frustrating this is the second time I’ve started running and had to stop because of illness or injury. I don’t want to give up but it makes me wonder whether I’m trying to do too much on little sleep and rest 😢

Oh I see yeah you volunteer for these things and sometimes think why did I do that haha

Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly and getting injured, it can be really frustrating, maybe just do the runs over 2 weeks than just the one week, even doing one run a week is really good especially on not a lot of sleep, it’s a catch 22 really they say excerise helps with tiredness but it’s finding the energy to do it, don’t be hard on yourself, you are a working mum with 2 young children, take it slowly and ya your own pace, you can do it 😊

That’s a good idea actually thank you just because the plan is designed to do in a week I suppose I don’t have to! I haven’t managed to go at all this week yet either as I went out drinking on Saturday and wore heels that rubbed my feet and made my knees hurt haha. I feel like an old woman! I’m going to try again on Monday and might start the plan again. Thanks for the support I really appreciate it.
