Not bad for a lad who was doing an exercise programme with the word "Couch" in the title only a few weeks ago! Great fun, as well of course although it was a bit of a silly route - I'm not sure any professional race organisers would arrange a Half-marathon with the stretch from 11.5 to 12.5 miles being entirely uphill.
Hope everyone's enjoying their running this week - especially those of us fortunate to have the sun out.
All the best,
AHSx

I hadn't noticed that - I wonder how far I could get planning routes by drawing things on a map of London? It sounds like a sort of Situationist praxis.
Best of luck with that. You're already up to the distance. Before my first HM I had run about 19k max. I don't think it harmed at all but psychologically you KNOW you can do it.
Isn't the last few miles of the New York marathon uphill? I'd wager miles 22-26 hurt more than 11-13 ever will, haha!
Good work on the run AHS. As I up the mileage in the summer to come, I think I'd like to get the train to somewhere far away and run back. Might help mix it up a little bit.
That's my big aim, actually - more than PBs and medals, I am very strongly motivated by the idea of being able to jump on the tube and run through London in the evening a couple of times a week.
I think it is fitness first (not sure) but there are organised post-work runs from the city back out. I remember that there was definitely a run from Bank to Clapham Junction, a good 8 miles but would be a fantastic run to do!
actually both of the Half marathons I have done had uphills for the last two miles so its definitely something to be doing in training, Nothing more heartbreaking than hitting an unexpected hill at the end of a race and having nothing left in the tank.
Excellent work, what was your time?
And great route. It goes past the front door of two of my old flats and within a street of a third, and also past a place of my previous emplyment. It could be the Rignold Running Tour of West London
