Running slow?

I struggle to run slow, but it is worth remembering this for those that do:

No matter how slow you go, you are still lapping faster than those on the couch.

Going slow is the key to keeping going!

Going slow takes skill! Also, it makes the legs work hard (and perhaps harder than going fast), as I discovered yesterday, when I forced myself to do the suggested pace in my training plan!

I run slow because I can't run fast! It's so demoralising when someone overtakes you!

I run slow so I've got a little bit in the tank to enable me to speed up a bit when I go past someone I know.

When someone overtakes me I just send out a telepathic message that says 'I'ts a marathon, not a sprint. No really, I'm just coming up to my 25 mile. So there'.

I'm not sure they actually get the message, but it amuses me and takes my mind off the pain. ;-)
