Japanese slow running?

I’ve seen a post somewhere on here (which I can’t find) about Japanese slow running? I’m a very slow runner but love running and this looks ideal for me. Does anyone do it?

I do this. I am very overweight, have bad knees and a bad heel, and have reached week 8 doing the Japanese slow run. My physio (for my heel) has advised that I can keep running by doing this; it has made me more aware of how I land my feet, and this protects my heels.

So far, I have managed every run, without stopping, and haven't had to repeat any weeks/ runs.

According to Strava, I am only running at about 3.9 miles per hour, but it feels great and I am loving running (never thought I would ever say that!).

When you say slow... how slow? I’ve been practicing today (after looking on YouTube) and it looks like a fast walk but almost jumping? Not sure if that makes sense!

For me, it feels like I am going slower than my brisk walking pace. It is more about foot placement than speed though. I found out about it on YouTube- worth a look.

well, having read everyone’s responses about what speed on a treadmill I have decided that I too am a very slow runner...age 53, overweight but have lost 3st so far with WW and still working on it...my walks are 3.7kmph and steady jog at 4.5, I’m a shortie at 5’2 and a bit with short legs...absolutely gorgeous eh??!! But loving it so far, just done wk2 and would love to get outside but we are very rural and not in an ideal place for running unless you’re a goat or a sheep.....thanks for this Lauren_ICanDoThis.......
