It's only been afew weeks so don't worry this is perfectly normal! I was very slow for the whole plan, and only really started to speed up recently (a year on!) It's actually better to go slow and finish each run, than to try to go too fast and injure yourself.

Well done on finishing week 4 and good luck with week 5 :)

I echo everthing Teresa has said. I am still very slow & am nearly 2 months post graduation (where did that time go?). Your speed will come later

Good luck with week 5 :)

If it helps you're better going slow and steady I think. You're building up stamina (ie you can run 5 minutes) and speed will come later, don't dwell on it. I deliberately slowed my pace the other day and found it a lot easier. If you want to feel better about it maybe go do w1 again and you'll probably notice its faster now.

Totally agree with all the above - I ran with some 11 year olds on a school charity run this week, none of them pre-trained, and it was really noticeable how they all belted off at a huge rate of knots, then loads of them ended up walking within a couple of minutes. NB I still haven't broken the 40 minute barrier for 5k yet, 10 weeks post-grad. Be patient and it will happen!

Slow and steady wins the race :)

I've got friendly with a slug and some days that little bleeder wins the race, other days I can pip him to the post. Making it to the end is always the goal, not who gets there first ;)

I have just completed week 6 today! I never believed I would run for 25 minutes without walking, I am usually sooo grateful when Laura says "That's it slow down to walking" I agree that pace is less important than finishing the run, if you wear yourself out early on you'll risk losing motivation. well done for completing week 4

As long as you complete those runs its all that matters. I can't my head round how slow I am but how much distance I seem to cover in terms of the streets that I pass by. Don't think I will ever be quick, but keep my self slow paced in order to finish.

Now increasing the time- up to 35 mins.
