Hold up Laura you want me to go back to intervals ... i was all geared up for a 20min + run, and you hit me with walk/jog/walk mmmm I'm gonna trust you know what your doing and go with the flow .... But I want a longer run shortly (that accomplishment euphoria is amazingly addictive), feeling like I can do more pod cast Week 6 Run 1 down and dusted 😊
Week 6: Hold up Laura you want me to go back to... - Couch to 5K
Week 6
Ah yes, w6r1 comes as a bit of a shock after the euphoria of w5, but Laura does know her stuff. W6 is the transition week between intervals and longer runs and is designed to build your strength and stamina (and it does!!) Have faith and have fun, graduation is in sight
the weeks do go by so quick, 6 weeks ago the minute jog seemed to go on forever and now it's clocked up to 3, 5, 8 and even 10 minutes wow the human body is amazing and adapts so quickly ... I'm gonna touch wood and pray for no repeats and in 11 more runs .. I can hardly say it with excitement .... Graduation yay!
Watch out for those tricky W6 runs. I actually had more problems with the interval runs. Most people seem to agree that interval work is a big contributor to improving stamina, endurance and speed.
Trust the program!
I like the intervals, my head seems to think it's ok to up the pace for a bit and go harder try and squeeze in lots of pavement distance because I know I can recover after x amount of minutes, in fairness today my times was quicker than the full out 20minute full run of w5 ... Figures 😳
It's not Just stamina etc, it's the mental strength to keep running that's being developed. You may be surprised at how much of a challenge the next run is!
That's true I don't know how many times out on jog I've mentally have to shout at myself you can do this, you can you can and usually Laura chimes in then and says you've got the longest minute of your life left on this run your doing well (I'm paraphrasing of course lol)
Well done xsmokey.
Having read many comments before W6R1 is a run that trips a lot of people up.
You sound like a runner with attitude - I like. There will be amazing runs and terrible runs ahead (not that terrible actually but possibly a little disheartening at times) and it is important to keep that attitude. Well done
Thanks runon, you've got to take the bad as well as the good, just hopefully there will be a lot more good runs than disappointing ones, thanks to all the graduates for their words of wisdom and encouragement ... It does help to get over them hurdles 😃
Yeah I was glad I checked out the podcasts before doing week 6 but I actually loved this week, although it does seem to trip a lot of people up. You're going to love R3 And then you only have 3 more weeks left to go!
