Well after my happiness at completing run 3 of week 5 last week. I attempted to run outside yesterday morning for week 6. It did not go well at all and ended up just walking!
First it was very cold more than I had realised, so was cold, then it just seemed to be a slog. I think in the end I just gave up.
so tomorrow back on treadmill and will try outdoors in June
I don't blame you the treadmill has much better weather this time of year. I did the programme on the treadmill but then transitioned to running outside and I absolutely love it now in preference to the treadmill. Remember there is no bad weather just poor clothing choices You could try skins and long sleeve top and other layers and I'd recommend a windproof jacket. Good Luck
well now here's a shock for you. If you wait till June, you might find it could be snowing, in June 1976 it snowed and cricket was cancelled at Old trafford due to snow on the pitch in June! So you might find its no better in June than now, ok, so after the snow left, it went onto be the hottest summer this country as had. but the moral is, never put off tomorrow what you can do today. The simple fact is, week 6 is not easy and you think after run 3 of week 5, you could run the London marathon or I did, but it was back down to earth with a bump. So get your mojo back and think of snow in June, then think, if that happens, I might as well go now.
Week 6 can be a tricky one for lots of people after the excitement of completing w5r3 so don't beat yourself up about this. Also, you maybe ran too quickly which is exhausting. Why not give it another go but run very very slowly. Make sure you warm up properly too. In the cold weather I warm up for about 10 minutes instead of 5 and that helps a lot. Don't forget that in June the weather might be very hot which presents a different challenge!
week 6, run 1 for me was my worst - it huuuuuuurt! It was a total let down after managing a 20 minute run a few days earlier. It confused me. I'm not sure why it was so bad, but pick yourself up and keep going - many people felt the same! Just trust in the programme and keep going with it - good luck!!
After the buzz of completing the 20 mins, I ran w6r1 today, I set off way too fast thinking I was now a runner...wrong! love the outside as it cools my glowing red face...hope it went well today
Managed it no problem yesterday. All in the head! Slowed it down a bit as well. The front of my ankles are sore:(. But onward
