After graduating, I have been doing 3/2 intervals for a couple of weeks and I've been getting close to 30 minutes. Today I decided that I'd try a 'straight' run at 6.3. I hoped I wouldn't need to walk at any stage but I built in a small margin to have a walk break toward the end if I needed it, so long as I did a sprint finish. I did six 5- minute runs trying to fool myself I was still doing intervals. And it worked. after 1 mile I could tell I was on target. at half way I was OK with a small margin as planned. at 2 miles, I had to stop to retie my left laces! so I was probably forced to do a sprint finish. At 3 miles I was bang on target so upped the speed for a sprint finish. and the time at 3.1m was.....

29:53

I know it's on the flat, no wind, on the treadmill, perfect conditions, unscientific, but it was under 30 minutes and that's fine by me :)

Yippee!!! Way to go! I hope to get there this year - perhaps I'll need to use some of your mental trickery.

Brilliant - well done!! It's a great feeling to see evidence of your progress, especially after graduating when you no longer have the lovely Laura encouraging you!
