I think my legs are trying to tell me that this programme just got serious! Pretty much every muscle from the waist down was aching this morning - and I have to be ready for 25 minutes in a couple of days time - eek!!
Quick question - do you start your Garmin / RunKeeper / Nike+ or whatever after the 5 minute warm up walk or before?

Week 6 is THE tester. It's no surprise you have leg ache. It's a sign that things are changing, not just your runs but YOU. You are building your running legs. The programme is preparing you for the final weeks so no worries. Just keep going steadily!
I didn't have any kind of gizmo to record my runs so I don't know the answer to that one, but someone will and they'll be along shortly to put you right.
It doesn't matter as regards your doing the programme.
'Weak legs' would have been equally applicable Miss W! I am pleased to think that even though I am not losing weight or getting any thinner, my body is changing and becoming stronger
I never count warm-up or warm-down. That's just prep. And as you increase your distance, that warm-up distance becomes less and less important. You're doing well, keep going!
Thanks John - I thought that might be the case as I am getting unrealistic results at the moment - I am covering around 4.2km but of course half of that is walking so still a long way to go to reach the magical 5k!
It's difficult to lose weight as you go through C25K. As you lose wobbly bits, you gain muscle, which I'm told weighs heavier. But you'll definitely start to feel better, you'll lose inches in places you'd like to, and your breathing will get easier and easier. Don't worry over distance/speed, Lynne, just stick to the programme, and the distance/speed will come. Honest!
Thanks poppypug - I definitely do 'slow and steady' to the point where I feel I am plodding, but as long as I am putting one foot in front of the other and moving forwards I know I am making progress
generally most would start after the warm up and stop before the cool down
as long as you are stretching after your runs ,it should be your legs adjusting to your new running life , just take it slow and steady on week 7 you will be just fine
Thanks Rob - yes am doing the NHS stretches after each run and also do yoga twice a week which is great for really stretching out all those tight muscles - although tonight it was a little more painful than usual!
I've always pondered just that question. Runkeeper never wants to find a satellite for some reason if I try and get it going after my warm up walk, it will find one instantly if I go into my back garden though. I tried getting it going at home, then pressing pause until I was ready to start running, it didn't seem to like that either... I've cracked it this week though! What I do is get my gear on and walk briskly to the Co-op to buy my newspaper and use that as warm up, the run straight from my house! Clever huh? Just wonder why it took me so long to come up with it!
