I got to week 7 and was told to stop for running for 8 weeks as there was a problem with my hip was unstable said I can run now but do I start from week 1 again or carry on on week 7
Not sure what to do : I got to week 7 and was... - Couch to 5K
Not sure what to do
Eight weeks is quite a long break - great that you're now able to get back to it.
Maybe give it a go with intervals, just to ease back in, and see how it feels, and increase back to your week 7 duration and move on??
I run intervals all the time now (my favourite just now is around 30secs running to 30 secs walking), following recovery from none too servere injuries developed during the early stages...my times and distances are improving, but I don't have any problems with injury or discomfort now. I enjoy it that way, but know that most prefer to run all the way.
Enjoy your come-back & good luck with the rest of the programme!
Oh dear, that suonds like a nasty hip problem. Good on you for getting back into the running again
I would suggest you start with week 1. If the first run feels super easy, then move on to week 3, if that's too hard to back to week 2, etc. So spend a few runs on finding out where you're at, but like Tikiczocky said, 8 weeks is quite a bit, so you probably do need to ease yourself back into things.
Happy running
Welcome back Ballanty I had a similarly long break due to injury and what I did was to start back at W1 and do 1run. That was easy, so I did 1run from W2 then 2 from W3. Think I slotted back into the programme around W4 to give myself time to build up my leg strength again before tackling the longer runs. I was too scared of reigniting my injury by pushing too hard too soon. Good luck m'dear
You might have to begin again but you can hsve s run out and see how it goes.
I was very overweight and had a bad hip but since ditching loads of weight my hip is now absolutely fine. I thought i was a candidate for a new hip but i can run with no pain at all.
I think running builds us up and makes us stronger. We can actually lay down new bone apparently, and that running is one way of doing that. Combined with a good diet there is no reason to think there'll be a recurrence of your hip problem. I hope not anyway!
Good luck Ballanty. Keep us posted on how you get on
