Santa Dash in Liverpool - record breakers!

My daughter and I donned the red suits and were part of 8000+ Santas at the Pier Head awaiting the start of the 10th Santa Dash and an attempt to break the world record. Apparently we have broken the record too.

It was a chilly morning but plenty of scouse humour around. Costumes galore and some hardy souls out and about to cheer us on.

The Santa outfits were one size and a very generous size at that. The belts were littered along the route as the fell off very easily. I lost mine after a km. I should have taken my camera with me as it was an amazing sight seeing the sea of red ahead as I approached a flyover. There were some 500 blue suits in the football mad city. Even their medal had a blue ribbon too.

The dash was not fast as there were so many participants of varying fitness levels. I slow jogged it in about 33 minutes but it was not timed. Fast runners would have been frustrated unless they were at the front of the pack by the Three Graces at the waterfront. Many people were walking it or run/walk. It was a good event for families.

Pleased with my medal as it is my first ever.

Sounds brilliant – well done to you both! Did you wear beards as well?!

Wore the beard and it was most welcome as we had some hailstones at one point!

Hahaha! That’s hilarious! Will you keep it as part of your bad weather running kit?! :)

Now that is a thought.... It was quite warm for the face. Buff around my neck and a white faux fur beard!!

The run in Liverpool is busy so it is a fun run and no chance of a PB in my opinion. Good for families and groups.

Thank you. My first running bling! I hadn't realised that it had been on for 10 years either. My daughter was in lower sixth in 2004 and did that one. My local town is doing something Santa related this weekend. I think I will have to do that too.

Ooh nice :) Just shows how time flies too doesn't it! I don't think we have anything like that around here but I have just discovered there seems to be a Parkrun nearby. I haven't plucked up the courage to do that but think it can wait until the New Year :) Have fun with your weekend jaunt :)

Do try a park run. They have been part of my C25K routine since week 1. It was amazing watch the times drop week by week.

Wow! I've been mostly running in the dark lol :D Just got more confident as time has gone on. Now don't mind being seen so much ;) Will definitely have a go at a park run at some point and it's in a lovely location too so not really many excuses are there!

8,000 Santas? Unreal! Sounds like massive fun! I visited Liverpool for the first time this year and fell in love with it. I did two of my C25k runs along the Mersey embankment. I have the Portsmouth Santa run this weekend. My first. I will wear the beard. I have not tried the "one size fits all" Santa suit on my large frame yet. Oh oh....

In fact there were probably more than 8000 there. It was just a sea of red with the occasional blue suit ( for the Everton fans). I collected the suits last week and at that point there 8100+ registrations with over 4 days to go and people were still turning up to register. It is a good fund raising opportunity and a fun family event.

Enjoy yours.
