Worked from home today the light was disappearing at 4pm and I thought sod it. I've worked hard all week time for a run. A quick 5k 29:29 - spooky. Best of all I got a new 1 mile PB in under 8 minutes (7:55.8) but I'll take it. Unbelievable that I started C25K in April this year
Feel brilliant - great start to the weekend

Great achievement and well done. I've just looked at your maximum heart rate, is that normal? I nearly freaked thinking I was going to kill myself when I saw that number come up on the treadmill. How did you work out what was right for you? Or am I misreading the stats?
I'm 52 so the normal 220 minus age take 85% would be way lower. Average heart rate of 165 and maximum of 178 is not the highest it has been. During C25K my max heart rate was 189. The training effect of this run was only 3.7 and I regularly hit 5 on a long run. I genrally try to keep my heart rate down but todays was absolutley fine and I think you have to feel comfortable. I have noticed that my walking heart rate has dropped substantially and I can get my resting heart rate down to 45 which is very good I think. I did have an ECG last Xmas and everything was fine and that was before I started C25K.
Runnersworld has a way of calculating max heart rate but I haven't bothered as yet. I just watch my watch ;-). My VO2 according to Garmin is 40 which is good. On my old Polar HRM it would be elite - Ha Ha.
Thanks for the explanation. Its helpful for me to know that I'm not alone in having numbers that seem to go above the 220 - age criteria. I've ordered a Garmin Forerunner15 today with a HRM so I'll have something to play with soon too. I got it with Tesco vouchers so I almost feel as if it was free.
