New PB at this mornings Parkrun.

Had a cracking morning at the Northampton Parkrun today.

The wife and I wanted to finish somewhere in the 30-31 minute region as our previous best was 30:54 a few weeks ago.

So armed with the new Garmin (set to pace us at 6 min/k) off we went.

My Mrs is defineatly the faster out of the two of us now but we only run together on Saturdays at Parkrun so we always go around together. When we hit 4K she wanted to up the pace, which we did a bit but she had more left in her tank whereas I was running on fumes πŸ˜€

When I hit the stop button the Garmin it was saying 29:29 πŸ˜€ We are obviously over the moon about getting a sub 30 minute. Then instead of saving it to my watch I pressed resume for a further 2 seconds........doh! Also the watch has the distance as 4.99k which is playing havoc with my OCD πŸ‘€

We still haven't had the results from Parkrun and the last I saw on Facebook they were asking for us to let them know where we thought we finished as there is a timing issue with today's run (typical huh).

But hey ho, these things happen.

Bob

Edited to add: Just had the official timing from Parkrun 29:37 πŸ˜€

Well done, that is a great effort from both of you. My first sub-30 was at a Parkrun too and I can certainly relate.

You can edit the distance in Garmin Connect to ease your OCD a bit.

P.s. I can't see your Garmin activity and assume this is because of your privacy settings.

Thank you.

I would certainly recommend going along to your local Parkrun, they really are great.

Congratulations on your graduation πŸ˜€

Fantastic! Well done! I am very jealous of your garmin though as I desperately want one. Does it bleep at you if you're going too slow or something? Xxx

You can set it up to do that but it does become very irritating.

I think BobP was using a function called "Virtual Pacer" which simply shows you how much you are ahead/behind (in meters) the pace you set.

in reply to Dunder2004

Oh right. I want something that shouts "hurry up! You're going too slow!" Xx

Yep as Dunder2004 has rightly said I just set the watch to the distance and pace I wanted and it shows as seconds ahead or behind on the watch face.

I am loving my new Garmin, it will take me a while to figure out all of the functions though.

The Mrs wants to get one too, probably a forerunner 25 as she only wants to use the gaps function.

in reply to B0bP

Sorry to sound stupid but what's a gaps function? X

Argh, predictive text.

I meant GPS function.

in reply to B0bP

Oh lol. I assumed that it was runners lingo that I haven't learned yet. ;-)

Ha ha ! You need to get a different pineapple :-) xxx

This sounds excellent B0bP - what a run :) I'm tempted to get a garmin/some sort of maybe more affordable running watch - anything really would be an improvement on my endomondo app which doesn't give me any indication of progress during a run, but has served me well and I have every run I've done recorded on there so I'm also nervous to change! Love your ocd about the distance. Our parkrun also comes in about 4.91, 4.95, never quite 5k, not sure if it's to do with all the twists and bends through the woody part, but as a result endomondo doesn't give me a time for my final lap :(

Thanks Ruth.

I know what you mean about not wanting to stop recording on Endomondo, I am currently starting the watch, then hitting run on the Fitbit app and finally hitting run on the run keeper app πŸ˜€
