im doing my couch to 5k in the gym on the treadmill... how fast does everyone run? I seem to be quite slow... about 7.5 kph - 8.0 kph... not sure i could go any faster without passing out!

Go at your own pace, and don't try and compare yourself with others. Everyone starts at different levels of fitness and as yours improves so will your speed. good luck

thank you... i try and push myself to go a little faster at the end of a run so hopefully i will get a bit faster towards the end of the C25K journey :-)

I've just started, and quite slowly on my short legs, anything over 6.6 makes me run more than a jog, anything around seven sees me spin off the end....so I reckon you are doing well at your speed.

Me too... 7.0 gets me to a light jog, a few more gets me a bit more speedy... but then i see people going at 10kph without breaking a sweat... maybe one day that will be me and i'll look like a natural!

It's hard enough to get consensus on this question when walking outside where at least you have a chance of calculating speed, but treadmills are notoriously inaccurate (assuming you're using the mill's speed readout rather than an exercise watch that counts steps), so there isn't even a guarantee (nor even a snowballs chance in hell) that your 7 km/h will be the same as someone else's 7 km/h.

Run with whatever speed works for you. Get through the programme. And then start to worry about speed :)

Happy running

This is the kind of pace I have kept and works for me. More recently I have been 8-8.5 but this exhausts me a lot quicker I find. Work with what suits you and your body :-)

I started at 7.5kph speed and just increased it very gradually as I felt able. Actually for the first few runs even that felt rather tiring! The important thing is to find a pace you can maintain and it really doesn't matter a fig what the numbers say. Good luck!
