Hi group.. Has anyone done C25k on a Treadmill? If so what speeds were best for the walk and run section in kph. Cheers in advance :-)

I use a treadmill for half my runs (starting week 6 tomorrow), alternating one run on the treadmill and one outside. On the treadmill, I usually walk at 3.2 mph and run at 3.8 - 4 mph, which is 5.1 kph and 6 - 6.4 kph (approx) respectively. This is a slow jog, which is right for me (unfit and overweight), so you may want to vary it to suit yourself. There are people on here who have done the whole program on a treadmill, but have said that moving to running outdoors afterwards was quite tough, so you may want to incorporate some outdoor runs as you go along to make it easier for you. However, running is running, and if you just want to get fit then running on the treadmill will work just as well. Best wishes with c25k. It is a brilliant program and the support on here is fantastic too. :)

I did the first few weeks on a treadmill. I can't remember exact speeds but I just played around with building on my week 1 walking and jogging speeds. You really shouldn't compete with anyone else at this stage - just compare with your own previous runs.

Running outside felt a lot more challenging to start with but when you get to the longer runs, you may find the treadmill a bit mind-numbing.

I am at W9R2 and I have completed it all on a treadmill... hoping to have the confidence to move outside soon. My speeds are slow though as I am overweight and wouldn't compare to others. I found my early shorter runs were faster than my later runs because I needed to go the distance. I will graduate in a few days and then will start working on speed and maybe, just maybe move to the outdoors...
