W9D1 in the dark...

I haven't been out since Tuesday last week, again. Finding it hard to keep up the momentum and making it a regular thing. Less than 2 weeks until my 10k now though!

I've just looked out the window and it's dark already :( Need to do W9D1 when I get home but got to change my route as my usual route has no streetlights. Bit worried about this as it means I'll be running on main roads the whole time, in front of people!

I guess I'm just looking for excuses not to go out... however, I love my bed so getting up early is not an option :( Fingers crossed once I've gone out tonight (at least, that's the plan!) I won't mind so much the next time...

I did look at joining a running club but going home and then going out again at 7.30 just doesn't work for me... going out straight after work seems to work better!

Since you're in week 9 you're a proper runner now. You shouldn't be ashamed of your achievements & ability to run. Make sure you have some reflective/bright clothing on & get out there & be loud & proud! You'll be glad when you've done it, you can then look forward to your rest day tomorrow. It's hard in the winter isn't it? I also don't find going out in the evenings again once in works well for me. I force myself out in the morning but must admit it's got harder over the past couple of weeks. Hope you manage our tonight, let us know how you get on x

Forgot to mention I have a cold too! :( I did reply but it seems to have disappeared... i have just got back from my run! :-) I have discovered in every direction from my house there is an incline! This makes it a lot harder... I had to stop at 20 minutes to remove my jacket... but I completed my first run in the dark :-) woohoo!

I've tried running after work & it was not successful. I just can't get going. I find it much better to just get up, throw on my gear & get out the door. I'm having the sam route/street light problems. I'm thinking of getting a head torch but my head gets really hot so not sure if it would be comfortable. Early mornings do mean much less traffic & I wear a reflective strp thing really meant for cyclists & an arm strap that flashes too.

I do try to get up in the morning but my bed is always just so warm and comfy :) I do need to get a head torch or something, I realised last night that my bright pink jacket still doesn't show up that much. The strips and arm straps are a good idea.

I did look out the window this morning though and think what a nice morning for a run!

I got a head torch a few weeks ago and have done a few runs with it now and did not find it a problem. It is actually quite comfortable, though you need to make sure it is tight enough as mine at first started to slip down and rest on the top of my glasses!

Like wise i am doing same run tomorrow after work, am on head torch no2 now :D will let you know how it goes tomorrow evening :D

Good luck :) I may buy a head torch, or just some reflective strips. My biggest problem was actually knowing what direction to head! My river route normally consists of keeping going until I'm halfway through and then turn back! Running on the streets I don't really have much idea of what roads will be what km.

Wow well done :) I should have graduated this week but life got in the way. Would definitely have gone out tonight but not getting egged! May try to go out in the morning before a wedding at 11, am doing an 8km muddy race Sunday.

Thanks... I do tend to look for excuses though, I will need to get up even earlier to fit the run in before the wedding. Was hoping to have a rest day prior to Sunday but as I haven't been out since Monday, I can't really put it off!
