Running home?

Intending running home from work Monday. Its about 3.5 miles so a nice distance I think. Anyone else tried running home? I'm motivated to do it as it would save me time. By this I mean saving time not having to go out later on not that I can outrun my car travel time (usually 20 min)

Yes, I run to work and back occasionally, (4 miles each way) and will do so more often when the weather changes and gets cooler. Traffic considered, running home takes about the same amount of time, perhaps just a bit longer, than it would do travelling by motorbike, how I normally get to work. It would be infinitely quicker than driving!

Have you anything to transport back from work with you? I have a rucksack that I carry stuff about for work in; it takes some getting used to at first, even if it's fairly light!

Thanks for reply. You are faster than me though! I would catch bus to work and carry running clothes and trainers with me. I would leave everything at work except my keys and phone and get the next day. I have a rucksack but I think I'd be better leaving at work for first go at least.

The heat and rucksack slowed me down a bit I think! :D

That sounds like a good plan. After a while of doing that, you may feel happy running there and back. :-) It's a great thing to do but does require some forward planning, which you're already doing by taking your stuff with you and running back.

The rucksack isn't a huge issue but it really does make a difference, even if it's only light. I wouldn't like to try carrying anything heavy in it!

I'm working up to this. Its about 8k from office to home so I hope in a couple of months. My hubby works in the same place so I don't need to worry about bringing my stuff home. Idea is to do it once a week.
