I don't like running ......

For years I've thought I just didn't like running. I love Walking, Cycling even hillwalking - but never running!

Then a friend of mine on FB posted about doing 10ks & park runs etc & mentioned C25k.

I have no idea why, but I decided I wanted to give it a go! Came home from work one Monday in October, downloaded the app, put my trainers on & off I went.

I loved it!!!

So today was W6R2 - which means from now on I'm hitting the serious no break runs. Hope I still love it this time next week!

Thanks AnneDroid!

Ha ha! Like it! A lot are like that! You know that old saying! How do you know? You don't know until you've tried it!😊

When I used to run in a previous life, we didn't have the properly supported footwear & I was too busy doing other sports - running was part of the exercise programme - not just for the joy of it in its own right.

The C25K has made it enjoyable & accessible. 😀

The key for me was understanding that running didn't have to involve all that poncy (sorry) stretching before and after that I found so offputting or unpleasant attitudes about speed or distance. That, bizarrely through doing C25K a structured programme that tells you exactly what to do, I could learn how to do my own thing.

I completely agree, googleme, there are a group of people at my work who go out in their lycra at lunchtime and seem to spend an inordinate amount of time stretching ostentatiously outside the front of our building! Realising that I can go out on my own (with Laura!) when I want (I like to go before work) at the speed that works for me (light jog!) and that I can stick with this program has been a revelation for me. Current on week 6 run 1 so lots of hard work still to go, but it feels like it could be achievable.

Wasn't it amazing to complete 20 minutes non stop? 😀

That's it exactly! I loved the 5 minute brisk warm up & cool down & that was all I needed.

At first I thought "maybe I'll be sore tomorrow without doing the stetching." But so far I haven't been.

Now at the end of my runs I do stretch a teeny weeny bit, but just at the bottom of the stairs, before I take my shoes off.

I also love that gear apart, running free. I'm fortunate to live right beside a country park & can quickly get off road & into the nature.

'through doing...a structured programme that tells you exactly what to do, I could learn how to do my own thing'... love that, GoogleMe

It's funny how it gets you like that! 😀

Yes, yes, yes! The programme is magic, isn't it?! Life changing! Well done for getting so far. I actually thought that the best part of the programme was Week 6 - 9 so you've got the best still to come :)

Every time Laura told me I'd be running for a long block of time I'd think it was impossible. But it wasn't and I did it, so just keep on keeping on and loving it!
