Today I will be doing W3 R2 as a non smoker. I've only been given up for one day, let's see if this improves my breathing and performance over the next few weeks.

W3 R2

Did you intend to quit or was it running that made the difference? Let us know how you get on, and good luck.

It certainly can't hurt! I will be interested to hear if the discipline of running helps you break the habit - chalk up another benefit of c25k if it does. Good luck, keep us updated!

Yay Belinda, excellent decision to kick the fags . I was a heavy smoker 25+ for so many years. I have been stopped now 2 years next month. I am not going to BS you, it is not easy BUT you have a brilliant incentive now doing this programme and wont it be flippin' marvellous to have your lungs filled with fresh air, not cigarette smoke ?
I am going to tell you something, not to dishearten you , but sometimes when I have a particularly bad day , I think oh b&$$'**@ks to it , I am going to go buy some fags and smoke the lot, I still sometimes have that little demon in my head saying " oh go on, go buy some " but I know that if I smoked , I would have to say goodbye to my running , and I know which I want more . There is no way on this earth I could've done this programme whilst still smoking .
I wish you every success Belinda, one day at a time ..... xxx

Wow two years that is excellent, well done you. I have surprised myself to be honest as it's not been to bad but that's because I'm using a nicotine pen at the moment. So I have not had any cravings at all. I gave up a few years back for a year but broke my ankle in two places and the thought of no moving for 6+ weeks drover back to it.
I'm very confident with running and eating healthy it will make the quitting easier so far so good.
I think once you've smoked for so long there will always be a time when I think I want and need a fag ha ha I just have to put my running shoes on and run it out of me

Oh Well done Belinda, great that youre keeping the lid on the cravings, I used the Nicotene Lozenges , they really helped, couldn't wear the patches as they made my skin itch like mad , Ive not heard of the pen must be a new thing , really glad its helping.
Keep it up ! Let us know how youre going on !
Well done Belinda, how did you do on week 3?
I have still only done day 1, came down with a terrible sickness bug, I almost fainted this morning and was sick 4 times so I don't know if I can do day 2 tomorrow but I'm hopeful!!
Thank you Kezza. I was dreading 3 minutes of running but to be honest I was dreading it for nothing, although it's longer, Laura builds you up for it in W1 and W2. Awww bless ya, sorry to hear you have been poorly. I hope you feel better soon and can get back to running it's horrible not being able to run

Hey Belinda, hows it going without the fags ? Still doing okay, I hope xxx
