Well my brother came to stay last night to deliver Kali the Jack Russell for her annual holiday on the IOW! (her 3rd year!), he pays me to look after her and i get nearly a week off work(have to work fri/sat as no cover ) and to visit my old mum He does Parkrun at Greenwich near where he lives sometimes, accompanied by Kali dog and his daughter , so i thought it was a good opportunity to get him out on our Parkrun.....................
Thought he would go on ahead as he was talking about wanting to get a PB as the course was flatter here, but NO! He stuck with me, after i made the mistake of saying i would like to do a sub 30 mins by end of the year! Hes quite a taskmaster(his daughters are speedwalking athletes ( the eldest got a medal at British championships recently ) and we set off at a faster than usual pace, i kept up well for first 2 k then slowed a little, he was a bit relentless with the "you're doing great" at first and the "come on 1k to go!" etc,( i did moan as i saw people about my personal trainer!) - i did encourage him to go on ahead but NO we stuck together and although i didn't get a sub 30 as he'd hoped i did knock 20 secs off my PB at 31.05 and a pace of 6.18( last week was 6.43!) So a good result but apparently i should be able to not talk at the end as thats how he is after Parkrun!! PAH! Some people are just more sporty than others( hes into martial arts and used to be a time trial cyclist) and maybe i'm not as competitive( thats definite!) But it was nice to have him along and show him what i've achieved as we've never been running before and i think he was proud of me!
Went back to my house for tea and toast/scrambled eggs and then off to Parkhurst Forest with the dogs(in the picture) it was a lovely sunny day and really quite hot! then back for a sarnie at my dads and a seafront walk with my lovely old mum, with a stop for coffee and cake Knackered after that so a lazy evening! (apart from trot with George in a mo) ...........
*Had email through -8 weeks today is my 10k run at Bournemouth, so i better get a move on with those longer runs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy running everyone
