So I did my first parkrun at the weekend. I joined my mum down in worthing and the course is flat along the seafront and back. I graduated back in June and have been running 3 times a week most weeks and increasing my distance (great south run in 2 weeks). I've been using the 3 stepping stones podcasts which I love and a few weeks back I got a PB of 35 minutes.
I went to parkrun on Saturday with the aim of at least 34 minutes and was very very happy with myself! 32:49!!!! When I graduated in june my 5k times were around 40minutes! I'm so chuffed with myself never thought I would get even close to a 30 minute 5km but once the great south run is over I will be chasing that sub 30 minute!

What a great time for your first parkrun. God luck with the Great South Run I hope you enjoy it. Don't forget to post again afterwards. Well done you 😊
Congratulations on that 32.49 5k Parkrun time, I am sure you it won't be long before you can get a sub 30 minute 5k, enjoy the Great South Run, I understand that there are several members of this forum who are running in it.
Well done that's amazing. C25k got me going and parkrun is my weekly can't miss run. My pb has come down very similar way to yours, what a great feeling. I hope no one starting out on here ever thinks they are too slow. Your post sums this up. I admire all the ages, shapes and sizes who just get out and run
Congratulations on your PB and your first parkrun. You’ll go sub 30 no doubt about it. My first parkrun time was 39:40 and over time I’ve managed to bring it down. My goal was 30 too and my dream was 28 minutes but I never thought I’d ever achieve it. I’ve managed to get down to 25:36. Hoping to go below 25 sometime. Best of luck and enjoy the great south run.
