Just did my first session on the treadmill, I think hitting the button to jog was one of the hardest things I ever done!!! I am overweight and have never run in my life, but I want to.
Question for you guys, the next day the bottom front of my shins are hurting, is this normal??
Thanks xx

Hi Badrat - I'm only two sessions ahead of you, although I do mine in a park rather than the gym. I can't really tell you about the shin pain but I'm confident someone who knows will be on here soon with some advice - it is a very supportive forum.
Good luck with the programme, who knows, we might graduate in the same week!
Yes it is, quite normal. Your body is protesting at the affront to its dignity and it's trying to put you off. Running outside is lovely and the scenery changes, and more importantly the time flies by
Good luck!
If you have never run in your life you are bound to have some aches and pains. I could barely move at all after the first run and hobbled round the second in pain all the way but it started getting easier after that. Well done for starting C25K and really good luck for your future efforts.
Hi I am currently on week 5. Don't have shin pain but I do get calf ache whilst running. Keep at it and if need be rest two days in between runs. Slow and steady wins the race!!
If you have never exercised before you will feel aches and pains. That's your body's way of telling you that you have worked your muscles. But don't overdo it too much. Good luck and keep motivated!
Congratulations on starting C25k. You won't regret it. If you haven't run before then you will have to suffer aches and pains for a few weeks, but they will subside. It is important to stretch after each run to realign muscles and prevent injury and reduce the aches. Try these nhs.uk/Livewell/c25k/Pages/... They will soon become part of your exercise regime.
