There is no success without hardship. (Sophocles)

(Sunday) To complete my own triathlon I must get on with the hardship. Yesterday's hardship wasn't exercise. It was a completely failed attempt to reach Isengard. Many hours were spent in a traffic jam. By the time it cleared I had to go back to base. As pops would say - Pah.

Sorry to hear you were stuck in traffic jam. Stuck in other kind of jam might have been tasty...

I've been to Aldi and replenished supplies so there should be plenty for all of the tri-althlete's this week. Took my mother in law who rewarded me with the usual Toblerone from poundland, unfortunately I have already scoffed half :(

Doing my run tomorrow morning and planning on doing the bike tomorrow too. Swim on Monday (or Tuesday at the latest). See I am committing to specifics now - could be the gin talking!

Second Lieutenant lizziebeth57 (supplies div), go for it! It's great to hear of people's determination and diary planning for the event.

Bad times Sir. Stuck in a traffic jam in this heat. Oh my! I suppose you could think of it as a deeply unpleasant type of sauna and therefore part of your fitness regime.

Was just wondering by what date the triathlon needs to be completed. Is it Thursday 31st July or Sunday 27th. Am completely crocked now after foolishly wearing heels for a couple of hours. Can hardly walk let alone exercise. I will do the challenge ( probably with the aid of industrial quantities of ibuprofen) but I'll be leaving it to the last possible moment. Woe! Woe! And thrice woe!

End of the month is fine. If absolutely necessary and you know you will do it after I think Captain poppypug (ents and haberdashery div) sometimes forges sick notes. Ask her if it's a possibility. We do have one member doing it in August due to marathon training.

Cheers m'dear. Am really hoping to manage it all before the end of the month without the aid of a sick note. Seeing physio on Thursday so fingers, toes and all necessary extremities crossed. :)

Good luck, but don't damage yourself further by trying it too soon, we'll need you for the Ironman next year. Oops, let that slip, didn't I!

Hahahahahahaha :D Sadly, in my case, more likely to be Ironside than Ironman! (Whoops just showed my age there I think!) :)

Second Lieutenant KittyKat007, is making a separate special post possible? I'm not terribly good at working my way round sites. I was going to add people's names to my daily post (which is why I need you all to tell me you've done it) and then mention you all again at the end of the month.

Do you know, we'd stopped talking about cakes and biscuits, instead using words such as training. Oh dear, I think in August we will have to go back to being serious.

Fingers crossed Kat! I made a private physio appointment which a local chap, just to get some advice on breaking the injury cycle really but, since then, 3 hours in heels has completely crippled me. So bad that AncientDad thinks I aught to cancel this physio and go to the GP for referral to pukka sports specialist. Don't know what to do, so in the time honoured fashion of vascillators everywhere, I'm sticking with the status quo and heading off to see the local physio on Thursday. Wish me luck!

ADC says Hi back. Enjoy the job but need to be more organised. Its a new job to the department so we are designing it. Need to design a less than 11 hour day.

Definitely. If it takes more than eleven hours in a day there should be another on the job with you. Good luck!

Thank you Sweetie. If sports insoles made a difference to you then I'll get some. To be honest I'll try just about anything to get back on track, including running on a track if need be. At the moment I'm concentrating on my posture and how I sit, stand and walk. Suspect I'm getting a little obsessive but a girl's got to have a hobby :)
