Morning all, I got up this morning feeling nervous about my run cos i was going back to the route where i fell last month, thought i had better try it again as i had lost my confidence about that route and was sticking to running over the fields near where i live and it was starting to become boring!!! Anyway i set off, making sure i slowed right down where the tarmac was bumpy and all was ok!!! Once past that area i felt good and continued on my merry way. It was cool, fresh and peaceful not many cars or people about, and i feel sure i got into a 'zone' as i suddenly was further than i had realized. All in all an excellent run of 3.02 miles in 37mins 44sec which is good for me. When i did the same distance in May it took me 43mins 01 secs so i am feeling really happy this morning, not only did i get my confidence back but i improved on my PB!!!!!!

Well done on putting your gremlins to rest for that route, and a PB on top!
Happy running
That sounds like a great run you had there. I too find it difficult to get over the mental hurdles. On my main route down a narrow country road I have a small section that is completely covered over by trees and is like going through a dark tunnel, I find myself holding my breath and running as fast as I can through it as it is so spooky! In reality it is just a stretch of the lane at the back of my house!
this made me laugh!!!! Bet you dont go there in the winter when it is even more spooky!!!! lol
I need to get over this as I have to run through 'The Tunnel of Doom' to get to any of my various routes. Winter is Coming (well, in a couple of months) and I will be running it in the dark then.
I run down a tree-covered lane as well and am fine unless it's dusk, and then, like you, I run flat out with my headphones out (you know, so I can hear the monsters sneaking through the trees, because that will really help...). Might make us feel silly but it shaves minutes off our time I s'pose.
Oh well done you!!! Nothing like a PB for restoring your confidence and for putting a bit of extra zing into your running legs
