Hi all. Is it a big NO to run every day or two days together.
Is it a big NO NO : Hi all. Is it a big NO to... - Couch to 5K
Is it a big NO NO
A lot of traing plans for greater distances have consecutive runs days as they are generally built around running 4 days a week and I've seen some that are 5 days a week. So I don't think once you've got some experience that it's a big no no.
I also have a friend who runs everyday. Personally I would never run everyday but I have done the odd consecutive run. I think you have to listen to your own body. I strongly believe we need rest days.
Sometimes I have found it hard fitting running in with other activities I do. I have done consecutive days but try and do morning to evening. I would need a 10 week at the moment I think!
Sorry, I have too little experience to answer the question.
But - chapeaus off to you for even contemplating it!
If you reduce your recovery time you obviously increase your injury risk. Running creates micro tears in your muscles which need time to recover. We are all different and some will get away with it (lucky b*****s), but I repeatedly read on here about people doing too much too soon and from my own experience, I would say be cautious. Never doing hard runs on consecutive days seems obvious. I understand, that with age, there is a decrease in the ability to regenerate muscle, so the rest days become more important. Cross training, to develop other parts of your musculature, or use muscles differently, will strengthen your body in preparation for running more intensively.
Good luck, I hope it works for you.
Panda! You should not be running on consecutive days. You are only on week 7. Please make sure you take your rest day. Your body needs it! New runners are not strong enough for running every day. Your body is not ready.
Chappa, I would take that running break come what may. I am following a running plan to get ready for a 10 mile road run but the extra day of running has about wiped me out. I had to stop it early on as my body is clearly not ready for it. The build up to distance running has to be slow, especially when you think where we've started from. We were all on the couch a few weeks ago! Take care of yourself Chappa. You'll still get to where you want to go
