I have been reading posts on this board since I started the program about 4 weeks ago.The posts have provided inspiration and chuckles. I thought that it was about time that I should contribute since I am now somewhat (fairly) confident that I will make it through.
I'm a 52 year old woman from Montreal Canada. My almost 14 year old son is athletic (enrolled in a school ice hockey program, works out etc.) and is somewhat encouraging (might run a 5k with me).
Yesterday, I was feeling a total lack of motivation and kept putting my run off despite the fact that I had the house to myself, no commitments and it was a pleasant day of 18 degrees Celsius.
I finally dragged my butt out at about 6:30 pm after spending most of the afternoon giving myself reasons why I shouldn't run - too many people out (heaven forbid they might look at me), I wouldn't be able to do the 3 five minute runs amongst others.
I am so glad I pushed myself to do the run. There weren't too many people out; as they were having BBQ s for Father's Day and the ones out, barely glanced at me. The weather was perfect. I completed the run and felt great even though the Laura podcast died on me and I had to keep looking at runkeeper to figure out when to walk and when to run. I didn't want to restart or mess with any of my apps, so I just kept going. I missed both the music and Laura's encouraging voice, but did the run anyways. I now know that I prefer running with music.
I think that from now on I'll set the intervals on runkeeper and play some running playlists to avoid issues in the future.
Thanks for all the reading opportunities, I hope to contribute more in the future.
