I admit to putting my karrimor trail shoes in the washer but only on the shortest wash at thirty degrees. I tied them to the clothes horse by their laces and let them dry away from heat.

They are fine but I wouldn't do it regularly

Over the winter my Ghost6s went in the washing machine on a regular basis. My figuring was that with the amount of muck ingrained in them the fabric would wear out a whole lot quicker (friction between the 'sharp' dirt particles and fabric) and they'd be wrecked a lot quicker than if they went through the wash. OK, I'd have the machine on 'rinse' so they got washed on a quick 15 minute cycle, with no powder or softener and not a major spin, but they're still going strong.

And even worse, I put them on the radiator to dry a few times as well!
