Smelly Trainers Advice Please :(

Went into the kitchen to find a bad smell - sort of cheesy and fishy and musty- Looked askance at the dog, but he met my gaze without guilt. He seemed to say 'nothing afoot here'.

My old trainers sit by the backdoor; muddy and down at heel and man, do they hum.

I fear that the abuse that they have suffered over the past few months has taken it's toll. They are sodden and smelly. I fear it's too late to restore them to fragrant state of being and I understand that the washing machine is not an option :( Might be time to boot them out, kick them into touch...

So, the newish pair are undergoing a run in at the moment; ready to step up when needed. How can I make sure that they don't go down the same path, that they have sole and do not kick the bucket prematurely....

Help please team :)

I remove the footbalance insoles and let them air on the back doorstep or in the porch. If they are wet I stuff them with newspaper, which draws the water. If very wet, the newspaper may need to be replaced.

Brush off mud when dry (actually my husband does that, I also allow him to keep my walking boots clean and waxed :))

Okay this was my running friend's tip, either squirt them with anti bacterial spray or Febreze (administrators I ain't being paid by the manufacturers honest!),each time after wearing from new... mine are now 18 months old and still fragrant enough to keep in the wardrobe, without friends asking why I am wearing Stilton perfume....

Maybe too late for my ol' timers but I will try this with the new shoes on the block. Thanks :)

If they are muddy I use my Bootbuddy and clean them immediately . I always let them air dry . Then once dry i put two tumble dryer fragrance sheets in each. They always smell pretty fragrant ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Bicarbonate of soda does the trick a tea spoon in each! You can run with the bicarbonate in the shoe!
