W6R3 - Mad Dogs and C25kers...

Well this is all very strange.

Yesterday I took a day off my run schedule because my legs were weak and feeble and I felt too tired. I did reluctantly go to my Spin class though, as they get very stroppy if you cancel late. I thought i would just sit at the back and have a gentle one just to warm my muscles over. But to my surprise after the warmup I suddenly found myself really going for it. I did not struggle at all through the whole thing and was on top of exercises that normally kill me.

This morning I woke up without any muscle ache at all and feeling really energetic.

So went back out and did my W6R3.

In the midday sun.

I won't pretend it was easy or anything like it, but not nearly as hard as I had feared. In fact for the first fifteen minutes or so it was only the little niggly voices I was battling against. My lungs and legs were fine with it. The last five minutes were Huffington Puffington time, but no more than the end of any new distance.

The weird thing was I run the same route every time. It's 1.6 miles out and back. But today I was almost back at the car at the end of my run. I checked my pedometer at found I had covered 2.52 miles in the 25 minutes of the run. Last week when I did W5R3 I covered 1.65 miles in 20 mins. I was not conscious of having increased my pace at all, let alone by 20% or whatever that is. I have checked the distance for both runs, there is no mistake. The only difference I can think of is that I had much more aggressive music on my iPod today.

Am going to reward myself with a huge slice of watermelon cake. (sorry pic is sideways - it wouldn't let me edit or remove it once i had added it)
