Only just started running when I was challenged to do a park run. Felt very nervous this morning and only got though it as my husband ran with me, encouraging me all the way. Completed in in 38 mins. Walked several times when the going got really hard. My 12 year old son ran it too for the first time beating mum by 13 minutes. Great family event and will go again next week.

I still have to stop and walk briefly -- I "can" run the 5Ks non-stop, but now know that I can complete the course more easily and in a faster time, if I walk a few times for brief periods in the last couple of Klm's. If I don't do that, I doubt that I could finish at the pace I feel comfortable running at. I don't feel comfortable running more slowly - so I run at the pace I feel that I can do and make up for my lack of endurance with the short walk breaks .

Gosh no pressure there, then; how brave of you to do a Parkrun so soon! Well done, and how lovely that all the family got involved. Great time too :)

Well done on your Parkrun and it sounds as though you had a lovely family day out. I'm looking at the idea of a Parkrun - just for the experience and people like you are really inspiring me to go for it. I hope you enjoy many more of these family outings. Best wishes.

Well done ! I did my first today as well in an almost identical time, hoping to go with my sister and her family next week. We can run..!!
