My husband's company has just been awarded two complimentary entries in the Yorkshire marathon in October 14'cos it has to shut down for a day when the marathon is on. My new boy wonder Personal trainer wants me to go for it.... Oooer.

Wow!

You know it can be done, there are illustrious C25Kers who have lit the way for you.

Yup. No negative posts please! My goal is to finish before it gets dark....

If you feel you want to go for it then all power to you. It may just be the challenge you need after all you've had going on recently. Good for you, good luck and best wishes.

Thanks Fitmo. I am quite excited. My PT just got a 73 year old bloke through the London marathon after only 9 months of running so I think I'm in the right hands! Haven't told my better half or family yet. I want to get quite a way along the training path before I take that risk...

Sounds like your PT was an excellent choice. Cheers.

October there's time for you. If your pt thinks you can do it, so do I. Always remember the most important things when putting yourself down for these sort of things. Have fun and enjoy it.

Absolutely! I am actually enjoying my training again now I have a Laura replacement and notice the hedgerow smells and birdsong like never before. I regard the next few months as my personal journey to Ithaca. Marathon day itself is not the most important thing. I hope you're on track for your triathlon and enjoying every minute of the adventure of getting there :-)

Turnturtle -- what do you mean by "a Laura replacement??"

I like to have a voice in my head telling me what to do. I lack confidence in my own judgement. I feel a counselling session coming on Bazza.... :-)

Sorry, maybe I should elaborate. My Laura replacement is my new boy wonder personal trainer who emails and phones me and says he believes I can do it (obviously he's never met me and I have lied about my age ;-) )

Go for it. Someone at work has just gone from zero exercise to London Marathon in 11months and your PT sounds wonderful.

I really am. Which marathon do you plan to do juicyju? I am aiming to complete in under six hours, which I think is plenty ambitious enough for me. Hope you report on your training progress. Have you any shorter races planned before October? I'm doing a 10K in July and I know that if I fail miserably at that I will back out of the marathon, but I must NOT be defeatist!
