Not Losing weight AND gaining inches.

I'm on week 8 and have maintained my weight since starting c25k. I also joined a circuit gym and have had my second monthly measure today. Losing on my waist and a little on hips, but gaining on calves for a second month. I hate my calves being big, and wondered whether jogging will hinder slimmer calves long term. I'd love to buy knee length boots without a thought of whether they will fit next winter.

I found that I have found that my fitness programme (which doesn't include the gym) and losing weight has enabled me to get into boots that wouldn't zip up before. So I suspect it isn't the running that is doing it.

I haven't noticed any difference at all in weight or inch loss just by running - I use the term loosely as an *ahem* 50 something. I started the c25k journey last August. I have just started keeping a daily food diary and calorie counting. There are some good apps that make it easier. I am not terribly organised but it has not been too difficult. I am hoping the combination of running and staying within calorie limit will pay off. It is working so far. I hope you feel great when you wear those boots in the winter. I am sure you will look great.

Well done on the inch loss on your waist and hips. I have noticed my body is firmer and more toned and at 47 I am extremely happy with that. I have always had quite defined calf muscles as a result of thrice weekly swimming in childhood and teens, weekly in 20's. I am happy with them tbh. You might be maintaining your weight but you are probably losing fat and gaining muscle. You don't say if you are overweight so perhaps a diet plan might be good if that's the case.

I have to admit I know exactly what you are talking about - I have noticed that my trousers are a tighter fit in the calf area since I have been running. I console myself with the fact that I know I am fitter than I was before I started C25k. I haven't lost any weight (and I am not dieting!) so I assume I will just have to put up with it......
