Finally decided to do something about lack of energy and the growing belly. Got some scales to measure weight (haven't done for many years) BMI, Water etc and started a Spreadsheet (I like spreadsheets).
Starting C25K tommorow, got some decent but cheap running shoes and a cheap wrist fitbit type thing (argos has a cheap samsung around £35)
After seeing the inspirational posts here, I thought I would add my own and hope in a year I can look back on this. Seems like a very lovely and supportive community.
Tempted to tweet my stats to shame/encourage me to keep it up, anyone else done this (or facebook)

Welcome... you can do this. Keep coming here and telling your story... when it’s tough we are here to help, when it’s great we are here to cheer. You’re gonna enjoy looking back on all of those posts next year.
Welcome along ! Share your stats if you like - some of us do and some of us don’t, but none of us do shame. We’re all on your side here, so relax, take it slow and steady, and enjoy the journey x
Hi. I'm fairly new on week 3 run 2 next. I have never been a runner or done any sort of exercise but I can honestly say that it is the best thing I've ever done! Good luck on your journey
Welcome. You won’t regret this. Keep it slow and steady and you will progress through the programme. Repeat a run or a week if you need to. It’s not a race to the finish. Keep posting your highs and lows and you’ll get a tonne of support.
There is no shame here Grimpage! We embrace good and not so good days ( which are, of course, just practice runs for other says!). Run like a snail, stay hydrated, take your rest days and read the ‘newbies’ pinned post here on the forum- and don’t forget to let us know how you get on!
Well done getting started- that’s the hardest part. Use this forum as the support is fantastic. But more than anything take your time and remember it’s your journey, nobody else’s- some will run fast, some slow, some will reach 5k in 9 weeks but the majority won’t- finishing is the main thing. All the best for your running career 🙂
Fantastic! And if you love spreadsheets, may I suggest that you also take a few measurements as well as weighing yourself? The programme is brilliant, but isn't primarily about weight loss. The biggest difference I have seen is in my body shape - waist, thighs and bum all slimmed down. I like to think I've got a lot more solid muscle than I had six months ago. Good luck and enjoy it!
Good luck. I started wk1 this week. The feeling that I got when I completed my second run was out of this world. Just follow what your trainer says and take it easy.
You go Mr. spreadsheet and all. I am on week 9 now but had to revert to week 7 for a bit to get the old mojo moving. Had a few breathing hay fever issues. I actually put on weight as muscle is heavier then fat. Just get out there and enjoy. It's hard but achievable. Good luck.
