Oh god I found this quite difficult today!!!!! I had to do a brisk 30 second walk half way through the first 3 mins!!!!! Did the second run but started to panic half way through and then this upset my breathing. Hopefully Tuesday will be better. It has also taken my face nearly 2 hours to recover from the beetroot effect!! I am glowing!!
Week 3 Run 1: Oh god I found this quite... - Couch to 5K
Week 3 Run 1
Hiya, in on week 5 now but I really found week 3 run 1 harder than I expected it to be! After first 2 weeks I felt quite confident then found that first run quite hard! The next 2 times get easier though!
Hi thank you for this I will persevere!!!!!
Well done for getting through it Josie-Jo! I've got my W3R1 this evening, hoping it'll be ok!! Best of luck for Tuesday
Hi Debs, just got in!!! How did it go ???? I bet you probably sailed through it???? I may be struggling a bit this week but am focused and looking forward to tomorrow as a challenge!! I have planned my work day round finishing about 15:00 so I can come home and get my brain ready for it!!! Haha I am really enjoying the MFP and the calorie counting and my trousers are feeling a lot looser!!! Hoorah but am not going to weigh myself this week until Wednesday. Good luck with Wk3 R2 let me know how you get on
Best regards

Well done on tackling the first run of week three, Josie-Jo! I'm sure you'll find the second and third runs easier now you know what to expect! (Personally though I found the second run of the first two weeks to be the hardest, for some reason!) Onward to Tuesday for you, where you'll find it a bit easier. I've got W3R1 to tackle tomorrow morning; starting to worry a little now!
Good luck to Debs too, for your W3R1!
How did you get on Miles_Yonder???? Was it good or middling???? I seem to be finding the 2nd run of each week difficult due to my calf muscles not recovering as soon as I would like / probably due to age and non usage!!!!
I hope it goes OK for you let me know how you get on
Best regards

Hi Josie Jo! Thank you for reminding me; I was going to make a post about this earlier but I never found the time. It went much better than expected actually. I was apprehensive but it went well. Once I got into the swing of the three minute run I found I was fine until it came to walking and I had to catch my breath! It's run two on Wednesday which concerns me. It's the second of each week which I struggle with. I think my body is saying "who taught you to run?! Stop this immediately and return to bed!" but I refuse to listen and I press on. I'm fairly unfit too, by the way.
As Fitmo rightly says, if you do need to repeat a run/week, there's not a thing wrong with it - better that than push on regardless and get disheartened or even worse, injured. I'm sure you'll be fine for run two though! When's your second run of the week?
Now I'm running, I'm having Radox baths and have a can of Deep Heat on standby to help with those aches!
I had problems on my first time at week 3 - I think I moved on when I would have been better repeating a couple of runs in week 2 although I had completed that week okay. I found that repeating runs/weeks worked for me because of my age and level of unfitness although I seem to be coping far better with the later weeks and not having to repeat. You will probably find that the next couple of runs go well for you but, if not, there is nothing wrong in doing a couple more runs from the previous week before moving on again. Good luck and best wishes.
Thank you Fitmo I think you could be right!!! I too am suffering from unfitness and probably I have to take age into consideration!!! I did think about continuing with WK 2 for another week but didn't want to slack!!
However, it is good to know that I am not the only one who may have to stay behind slightly!!!
Many thanks for you advice
Best regards
Josie Jo
