Kicked off the afternoon with a 2k family fun run with medals the lure for my children. Despite a bit of rain, their faces as they sprinted the final bit with all those waiting to do a 10k cheering them on were all smiles.
Ended the afternoon with my final run of week 9 in beautiful sunshine. After 30 minutes I'd run about 4.5 k so I kept running and ran 5k in 36 minutes. I was really pleased though having now looked at race results I know that's not brilliant.... (For me it is!) Got a 5k in May so my aim will be to improve on that if possible. Not sure how I'll be able to as don't think I can go any faster but at least I know I can run 5k! No cheers for me as I completed the distance but I did get hugs from my children - and I did get a medal for the 2k this morning!!
Really glad I started this - couldn't have run the 2k with my children if I hadn't... That, for me, is the whole point of having done this and why I'll keep running!

Well done Tada. A fun day out with medals! What's not to like. It sounds like you all had a lovely time. Glad the children enjoyed themselves too
Congratulations. That's a fantastic time, don't put yourself down. I'm no where near that speed myself. Well done for getting your kids out as well. My daughter is 18 months and enjoys mini-races in the garden or the park, and it's so much fun running with her and seeing how much fun she is having. You must be very happy and proud of your kids.
Thank you... I was pleased with finishing and doing 5k and then I looked at results from the local 5k. Shouldn't compare really as I only started running in January. I couldn't run faster over that distance anyway!! Feel more pleased with myself today - don't think hanging around with 10k runners (who did the 10k in times of 18 mins!) on the day you complete your final c25k run is the way to go!
First run for my children (and me) yesterday, they are 5 and 7, and the younger one found it pretty tough to keep going while my daughter had a cold so didn't feel great. They both prefer running fast over shorter distances. Although my daughter sprinted off super fast with my husband at the beginning, she couldn't keep going at that pace though they were both quite far ahead of my son and me... We all ran together into the stadium at the end and when they saw people were cheering them on, they ran as fast as they could and their faces lit up. Very proud of their medals.
Part of the reason I started this is to set a sporty example. Can't imagine finding the time or energy when they were 18 months old!! Have to keep going now!
Congratulations on completing week 9. Enjoy your graduation. Best wishes.
