A tough one! ....

Went to fabulous Rome at the weekend. Hubby knew all the building works here were getting me down and thought we deserved a treat. My daughter was on a school trip and my son came with us. I didn't feel confident running outdoors - scared of getting lost! Truth be known. Tried the treadmill and hated it! The most laborious 6 k ever!. Decided that running can wait until I get back to the beloved Canal towpath. Hours and hours of walking ensued covering all the sites and the Pope!! Got back home yesterday and got the muddy old trainers on and off I went. It was a hard run and the voice kept telling me to stop (we all know the one) but I knew I was capable of 11k now, so did not want to be defeated. I did it and I did it in a better time than last weeks but I couldn't have gone much further, it was all I had in me. The first time I can honestly say I didn't enjoy it. Legs are sore and hobbling today. Hope to feel better for tomorrow's run as really would like to hit the 12k mark. Just wondered if anybody knows of any quick fix stretches I could do.

There are stretches on the NHS Livewell site, which is the host site to this one. The stretches are with good ol Laura too so you'll be in good hands

You saw the Pope!!! Crikey. I'm just off out on a run after a weekend away so carrying a bit of extra ballast. Hope it doesn't slow me down though. My husband took me away from the building site we've been living in the past don't know how many years but he took me to the home of football. Sigh. LOL

Football? Bless! Hee Hee! :) Thanks for stretch tip! The Pope was just a speck in a window from the square. Luckily there is a huge TV screen to see him close up. Good luck with your run today for some a break suits!! Let us know how you get on :)

Hi Carole. May I be so bold as to suggest these hip 'n glute exercises? I've been doing them for a couple of weeks and have found them to be alarmingly good!

Thanks Dan, They look really good and I have been getting stiffer by the minute! I am one of the worst cool down culprit and know I should do more. These will on the agenda now - wouldn't like to miss a run day! Thanks again and hope Mrs Dan, tights etc are all well!! :)
