Making progress
Good to see you back online again and so glad you are making what sounds like a great recovery. I would think walking 2k is pretty good at this point and I bet it is doing you good too, especially as you are enjoying it.
Hope you are out and running again in the springtime but you will know yourself when you are up to it. and in the meantime - Happy walking A1nsworth
Glad to hear you are back out there and on the mend.
Glad to hear you are feeling better!2k in 20 minutes is a good brisk pace so you will be building up your stamina.
It is nice to have the contrast of a walk (and no special clothing required - although it galls me to say that since I started C25K wearing normal clothes - some days I was wearing a long knitted skirt and running along little woodland paths through bilberry bushes so why do I think I can't do that now???) Oddly enough though I find that walking, especially a brisk walk, takes at least as much toll on my body as running. I did start C25K because I couldn't manage to keep up a brisk walk for very long. Over the last week I've just been doing walks and no runs for various reasons and I really ache! Looking forward to doing a run to loosen up. (I often don't run any faster than you are walking)
Running in woods sounds nice, although not at the moment with the wind and rain! You are right, when I was running I went about 6.5to7 km, which isn't that much faster.i regret I never made the elusive 5km, but at my age was happy to be running for 30mins.there is a school of thought that walking fast is as good for you as running x
You would be surprised about the wind and rain in the woods perhaps - it's more sheltered. The very high winds make it imprudent on occasion, and sometimes it turns into an assault course with all the fallen trees.
I can run for an hour and twenty minutes (probably longer, haven't tried yet) I could not sustain a brisk walk for half that time. Worth trying both I guess, depending on personal vulnerabilities and circumstances.
Certainly will try and work towards that.i have been told that it might take 6months to get over this op.Today I have woken to a most glorious day and will get out walking and enjoy the fresh air x
Enjoy your all. Have you got lovely sunshine today? It's a rest day for me so no running but will go for a long walk with my family today. Sunshine - wonderful!
Yes it is glorious and I'm going for a quick walk in the next half hour before the crowds get up x
