Just had to get out there and do "something" today...

So I've had a sinus and throat/chest infection, but still, when I realised it's been 3 weeks and a day since I last ran, I decided I just had to get out there and do "something" today. My cough is still there, but not too bad, and I thought that if I had to stop and walk, then I'd just walk for a bit. Slow and steady was in my mind, and I duly recorded a personal "worst", never having run as slowly as I did today since tracking my runs with endomondo.

But really, who cares? I got out there, I ran for 25 minutes, I didn't have to stop, I didn't collapse when I got back, and my cough is no worse now than it was this morning (so no more excuses there then!). Oh, and I didn't get wet either - despite an enormous and very black cloud looking like it was all set to empty all over me.

Back to the couch and my fix of winter olympics, and feeling slightly less guilty about it now!

Hi RNB! Pleased you managed to get out there again and not make yourself worse. It's hard when you have a chest infection but going out with the attitude that it does not matter if you have to slow down or even walk works. It's not really a personal 'worst' - you were ill and it should be logged as a great success! WELL DONE YOU for getting off the couch and out! And enjoy the winter Olympics, they are amazing to watch! I don't know how they find the bottle to do some of those sports!

It's reassuring to see that you were able to run for 25 minutes after such a long break. Really well done.

Well done RNB. Glad you were able to get out there again. These coughs to tend to hang on. If it's an irritating cough rather than a chesty one, try slicing up an onion & put some brown sugar on it. (I tend to use an egg cup). The sugar will draw the juice from the onion & it's the syrup produced that cus the cough. Doesn't taste so good but it does help - honestly.
