Crikey- no pain no gain - or so i am told.......

I have had this niggly calf pain for sometime - which does not interfere with my running at all- currently up just shy of 7 miles.

However , it does interfere with day to day life - if I sit for any length of time or when I am driving - I am hobbling/limping along for quite a few mins before my calf stretches and I can walk normally.

Went to see a sports therapist tonight - it was not the massage from hell - but it was pretty uncomfortable and sore - and there was a clear differences in my lower leg. she said in a very breezy voice - I have to make things worse before things get better. Hmm think i believe her - I have a whole pile of stretches to do. I now have a very achy leg and feel slightly sick- sipping a cool G and T to recover - purely medicinal - - she did say ice it this evening :-)

Ha ha! Like your version of icing! Funny it doesn't affect your running, any ideas what might be causing the pain?

thanks Slowworm. It was originally caused by a foot problem. I fixed the foot but was left with a residual problem in my calf- scar tissue in the muscle apparently. Anyway _ I was in a right old grumbly mood last night. Today at work I practised all the stretches- and i have to say my leg was not as bad - and i did not limp when I got out car - so maybe something is on the mend - who knows....

Good to hear!

I have a similar problem and am thinking of going for a sports massage, I can't decide if I should or not (cowardly custard!) my pain is the inside of the right calf, which can affect my running, walking and resting (shuuu don't tell anyone!)

Hi cloudchaser- see above- if you had asked me last night I would have scoffed that it had made a difference - but today - it does feel better - still a bruised feeling- but definitely not as bad- will report back in week :-)

Wow I could get Into that sort of icing your injury. Sport massages can be tough but I have always sworn by the work they send you home to do. I have saved myself a fortune by religiously doing my physio stretches. Speedy recovery.
