W6, R3....numb foot?

Hmmm....so towards the end of the 25 minute run (which I found very difficult!), I noticed some pins and needles in my left foot and then it went numb. A very odd sensation when running! Anybody else had this? Or knows what it is? x

Yes, I have it often. I had it for the second half of my hour run yesterday, I don't think it is anything to worry about. Although I admit it does feel strange and unsettling. I think if your shoes are a bit tight that can cause it, try losening you laces a bit see if that helps.

Also, in the morning try some foot exercises, my favorite is putting a tea towel under the foot and scrunching it up with said foot then flattening it out again.

I'm quite sure it's just that your shoes are laced too tight. Happens to me often.

I will agree with lace comments. I have had it on rare occasions, and adjusting my laces has sorted it out very quickly.

Pull up your laces from the bottom to stop your foot sliding and leave a little looser around he ankle. Or get some supa doopa running shoes, I don't think I have had this since my gait analysis x

I was experiencing this during the second half of my run. I have a high instep and now use elastic no tie laces sportsshoes.com/product/ULP77 and lace them up the side of my mid foot with criss cross at the top and bottom runnersworld.co.uk/shoes/ho.... It definately seems to have helped. x

If you haven't been fitted with running shoes from an expert, I would definitely recommend it. I was having the same problem — the entire outside of my feet were going numb. I had purchased Asics Numbus running shoes from a big-box retailer because I had read so many positive reviews. I also tried the suggested adjusting of the laces, which did nothing to help. Finally, I went to a real running store that has experts to help me find the right shoe. I came home with my new shoes and have never had numb feet again. A few weeks later my daughter was having the same problem. I suggested she get properly fitted with new shoes and her issue was cleared up as well.

I changed my lacing and haven't experience any numbness since. This is the blog post I found that explained it: katierunsthis.com/2011/10/0... - the way I do it is the second to last method where the laces go straight across the shoe.

Thanks everyone - unfortunately I can't go and get any new shoes...my little boy is next on the shoe buying list. I will try not to lace them up so tightly tomorrow xx (although my Mum has been asking what I'd like for Christmas!) xx
