I twanged my left ankle on Saturday. Ice and Ibruprofen helped some, but it is still sore when I walk. I was due to go on W4R1 tomorrow, but I think I'll have to give it a miss. Gutted. Any advice gratefully received.
Ankle injury: I twanged my left ankle on... - Couch to 5K
Ankle injury
RICE - Rest, ice/anti-inflammatories, compression, elevation (above the level of your heart when ever stationary) - Dont get disheartened as can take up to 6-9 weeks for a soft tissue injury to properly heal...
Bad luck, but give it time to heal up. Runsandknits' advice to keep your ankle above your heart sounds like some yoga might be useful!
Cheers both. It seems much better this evening although a little tender when I touch it. I've been to yoga tonight, and I keep icing it. I'll rest it for a few more days and then try again next week. Am sooooo disappointed.
A lovely bruise has emerged. It is now much less painful. How much longer should I rest it for, and should I go back to week one do you think?
Disaster! A few days after my original injury, I sprained my ankle again, just walking across a car park. I nearly passed out with the pain, and am still in some discomfort, a fortnight after the original injury. So disappointed. Am not going to attempt running until it is completely healed.
