Week 4 Run 1 Most Painful Aspect...

The music! It sounded like someone didn't negotiate a contract quick enough and they had to use public domain tunes. Oh well. I was really nervous about this run and worried I wouldn't be able to do it. But when I heard Laura's familiar, encouraging voice, I felt really motivated. I managed just fine actually. My muscles were burning at the end but I didn't feel like I was overly out of breath or taxed of energy. Really love this programme!

Well done! That's my next run too....scheduled for tomorrow. Glad to read you didn't find it too difficult as it seems like such a big jump from wk 3. Not looking forward to the music!

I was really very nervous before I did the 1st run. I was super surprised I was able to do the run myself. And if I managed it, you definitely can. Let me know how you go tomorrow! You can totally do it. You will feel so good after you do tomorrow.

Well done on making it through to week4 and luckily if it's just the music which is the only cause of pain then you are doing just great .... have you also noticed just how much your recovery has improved during the walking sections too?

... I also remember thinking just how dire some of the music was too, but then when you realise that this has all been done by the brilliant people at the NHS and they have an obligation to make it free at the point of use, plus they have to cater for every taste from 11yr olds through to 74yr olds and beyond.

So you can appreciate some of the issues they would face when choosing the backing music..... plus they have to make it royalty free which is why there are no well known artists on there - I just think that if I had to go out and pay for a personal trainer then I would have given it up a long long time ago.

Enjoy the rest of the program & Happy Running....

Yeah I totally get that and am a huge fan of the programme generally. Even though this week's music was a bit different, that doesn't in any way cast a shadow over my overwhelming excitement and support of the programme. Thanks for the encouragement about my running. I will definitely keep it up!

Hi Well done to you.I also completed week 4 and due to start week 5 tomorrow.I am dreading it but also positive about it.Good luck and report back

Wow week 5! You can totally do it. One half way through the programme! One thing I keep telling myself is I should really trust the programme and not underestimate my own ability. I am doing this programme after having a baby and really struggling to get fit again. So my confidence in my ability has been quite low. I have been pleasantly surprised to see how my physical fitness has come along week on week! Anyway. All that to say good luck for tomorrow! You got this!!

I'm in Hackney, London. It has been beautiful weather generally but on Friday it went a bit windy and rainy. Now today it is just proper chilly and windy! Where are you? I'm not very good at running on a treadmill. Not coordinated enough :)

well done babymama, just completed wk3 today and thought I'd take a peek at what week 4 may have in store.

Encouraged by your feeling fine after r1. Now to steel myself for the w4r1 at the weekend.

I completed W4 R1 yesterday evening and haven't been able to stop smiling since! Completely agree with you about the music - but liked the random classical bits added...

Well done finishing W4 R1! And you earned that smile - so smile away! I have W4 R2 to do this morning and I'm a bit worried about it because I gave myself a huge blister on my heel from R1 and my calves are still quite tender. And re the music: I too liked the random classical bits tbh. Felt like it made my running feel extra epic! Let me know how your R2 goes. good luckx

R2 done first thing; ran my normal route backwards in a hope to avoid dogwalkers and any early morning shopping neighbours. Struggling a bit with speed - my runs seem slower than the walks but am still moving for longer than I was 4 weeks ago!How did you get on? X

I did ok thanks. My blister hurt at first and then I didn't even notice it, but once the run was done I looked down and it had bled through my sock... ooops. And I was really sore before I started running and the run felt really slow and really painful but afterwards most of the soreness was gone from my legs and I felt really great! I stretched properly after as well which I"m sure helped. Now w4r3 tomorrow. Even though I've done it twice now, I still feel nervous like I don't be able to do it! Did you do r3 today then or are you due to run it tomorrow?

Hi, well there you go! I actually managed to run for 5 minute....twice! I think I am slightly in shock! Absolutely loved it and it was windy and raining! Roll on wk4 run 2. Thanks for your support :-)

Wow! Great! Well done you :) You must be feeling so proud of yourself! And you definitely get extra bragging rights for doing in when the elements were so against you. I am nervous about r2 this morning. All the confidence I felt just have r1 seems to have melted away :( I'll let you know how it goes!

Well done babymama :) I think after a baby would be really hard to get going again so and extra well done :) I started week 5 this morning, my legs ache but loved it. I love the feeling you get when you hear the voice say 'you did it'

babymamaGraduate in reply to Emsymum

Thanks Emsymum! I know what you mean about Laura's voice! I love that! So glad W5 went well. I start w5 this thursday but I have to focus on w4r3 tomorrow first!

Well done to us all! Aching a bit today but looking forward to pulling on the trainers tomorrow, which is a sentence I never thought I'd type!

well done mummystar! It is crazy how I can looking forward to something so much and sort of feel intimidated by it all at the same time! Keep up the great running!!

At least it wasn't that awful 'take a little bit, and give a little back' from week 3. I couldn't wait for the final run to start in week 3, because it meant that the music would change!

babymama profile image
babymamaGraduate in reply to xeompho

haha - know exactly what you are talking about. I feel that a musical low point for w4 is when the Blue Man Group but not the blue man group music comes on. It is almost this youtu.be/NjQqp613g8w ..but then not at all which I felt sad about. Anyway it is on to W5 music for me now! woohoo!
