I did my first Park Run this morning, the first of many I think, the park route was good and there’s something nice about running with a group of people, its more of an event than just another run. Also, I’m a bit competitive so I now want to beat my time and move up the rankings in my age category!
I wasn't expecting a personal best as I had to cycle 4 miles to get there but I did it in 30 minutes and 4 seconds, my fastest 5k so far. I’m just five seconds from beating my target of doing a 5k in under 30 minutes so I’m hoping I’ll break that next week!
The only downside was that for some bizarre reason my right trainer rubbed the side of my foot and I now have quite a sore foot. I've never had a problem with these trainers before and I've probably done a hundred miles in them. I'm at a bit of a loss as to why I've suddenly got a problem.

Well done on your first Parkrun, hope you get a new PB next week. Check your socks in case they are the cause of your rubbed skin. Our feet don't need sore bits when they have running to do.
That's a great time, well done! And I hope your sore foot improves. Do you think it was all the cycling and running, or do you normally do all that, and are those the shoes you use to cycle in?
Thanks! As far as blisters go its fairly minor so I'm hoping I'll be okay to run on Monday. I do quite a bit of cycling so I wouldn't have said that was the cause but I don't normally do cycling and running together so maybe that was a factor.
I did my third park run today, I was delighted to have come second in my age caegory - and then when I went and looked at the stats I discovered there were only three of us. Still, 2 out of three aint bad I suppose. I have discovered from parkrun that I really need to work on my hill runs - apart from that, I'm just pleased I didn't come last...
Well done, 2 out of 3 is better than 3 out of 3. I came 22nd in my age category and I think when I counted there was only 26 or so but still it isn't last and there's now something to aim for!
